Your future responsibilities
- Establish, lead, and advance a new research unit, building a team of 10-20 researchers.
- Acquire financial resources to operate the research unit through the different cooperation models of SAL.
- Strategically plan and allocate resources for the Research Unit, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide mentorship, scientific guidance, and supervision of researchers.
- Corporate and profit responsibility.
- Initiate and oversee collaborative projects with academia and industry.
- Expand the research unit’s international network through partnership acquisition and ongoing network activities.
- Shape the research program of the Research Unit, creating project portfolios together with the division head.
- Grow the research unit towards research excellence and economic impact.

Your future responsibilities
- Design control units based on microcontrollers ranging from 8-bit MCUs to 32-bit/64-bit ARM architectures for use in research projects on communications and sensing systems.
- Set up software development projects from scratch, including the definition of a hardware abstraction layer, in parallel with the hardware development process.
- Verification of hardware/software implementation in the lab.
- Lab management, including supply chain management for materials and small parts required for project work.
- Technical project work integrated within small to medium-sized teams
- Internal and external representation of the SAL project team.

- Lead a diverse team of 8–10 scientists within the Embedded Artificial Intelligence group of the Intelligent Wireless Systems Division, focusing on machine learning and signal processing across various domains and applications.
- Shape the research agenda and project portfolio in collaboration with team members, peers, and the Head of Research Unit
- Drive innovative solutions through effective team leadership and expert coordination. .
- Manage resource planning and allocation for the research team

Your future responsibilities
- Leading and developing the Embedded Artificial Intelligence research unit in the Intelligent Wireless Systems Division with currently 14 scientists focusing on machine learning, signal processing and neural network VLSI accelerators for a wide range of domains and applications.
- Vision for long-term research opportunities in electronic systems and miniaturization of machine learning and signal processing algorithms into hardware.
- Shaping the division research program and project portfolio together with supervisors and peers.
- Collaborate with the diverse team of experts to find optimal solutions.
- Budget and ressource planning and control for the research unit.
- Overall, lead the research unit to generate high quality research outputs, scientific excellence and economic impact. Keep growing the research unit.

- With your technical know-how, you standardize our IT product range (servers, storage, backup, virtualization).
- You record and evaluate requirements, coordinate their implementation and define the necessary processes.
- You evaluate and test new hardware and software, create concepts and maintain them on an ongoing basis continuously.
- You plan and coordinate IT infrastructure services as well as asset & license management, patch & release management.
- You communicate with stakeholders, manufacturers, service providers and internal departments and coordinate topics such as capacity management.
- You create, analyze and maintain reports, e.g. assets, licenses, planning, installations and configurations.
- You advise and support IT projects, e.g. rollouts and non-standard changes as well as service requests.
