Your Responsibilities:
Core Development: Design and program embedded software using C/C++ for state-of-the-art microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, STM32, ESP32). Real-Time Systems: Implementation of sophisticated real-time applications using RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS). Connectivity & Protocols: Implement and optimize communication protocols (MQTT, Modbus, CAN, I2C, SPI) and integrate wireless standards such as Bluetooth, ZigBee, LoRa, or Wi-Fi. Hardware-Near Coding: Develop drivers for peripheral devices and perform low-level debugging and error analysis directly on the hardware. Documentation: Create technical specifications, developer documentation, and comprehensive test concepts to ensure high-quality releases.

- Konzeption, Architektur und Weiterentwicklung von UX/UI-Systemen für Embedded-Linux-Plattformen in Fahrzeug- und Geräteanwendungen
- Entwicklung performanter, wartbarer und skalierbarer UI-Applikationen unter Embedded Linux (z. B. mit Qt/QML oder vergleichbaren Frameworks)
- Umsetzung ganzheitlicher Bedien- und Anzeigekonzepte auf Basis von UX-Anforderungen des Produktmanagements in enger Abstimmung mit Hardware- und Systemarchitektur-Teams
- Technische Beratung bei UX-Konzepten hinsichtlich Machbarkeit, Echtzeitfähigkeit, funktionaler Sicherheit und ergonomischen Anforderungen
- Integration, Aufbereitung und Visualisierung komplexer System- und Sensordaten (z. B. aus Assistenzsystemen, Computer Vision oder vernetzten Subsystemen)
- Mitarbeit an Forschungs- und Innovationsprojekten zur Weiterentwicklung digitaler Bedienkonzepte, Automatisierungs- und Assistenzlösungen
- Konzeption und Implementierung robuster Kommunikationsschnittstellen und Architekturen für vernetzte HMI-Systeme
- Mitarbeit in agilen Entwicklungsteams unter Einsatz moderner Toolchains

Your future responsibilities
- Acquisition of R&D projects for IC-Design, focusing on Sensorics, RF and mm-wave communication, radar applications and similar
- Acquisition of industrial partners (with a special focus on Start-ups and SMEs) and non-industrial partners (academic institutions, research centres) partners for innovative IC-Design project collaborations
- Defining a clear business strategy, leveraging unique SAL’s value proposition to attract customers, expand the customer base and find new markets
- Co-developing and shaping the service offering and the research strategy with both Engineering and Research teams, providing insights into current trends and expected industry developments, identifying opportunities and challenges
- Key-account management for premium partners, developing service quotations for clients and managing and of an efficient and agile customer database
- Liaising with the Marketing / PR and Engineering departments on the creation of marketing campaigns and related material, press releases and social media communication channels
- Representing SAL at events (both internal and external), organising and attending conferences, meetings and industry events

- Take on full project responsibilities by continuously assessing the progress targeting given timeframe, budget and deliverables.
- Organize work, align resources and coordinate the project team and external collaborators, suppliers, partners.
- Define and monitor project KPIs and objectives together with Project Owners and Department Managers.
- Regularly report project status to internal stakeholders and external partners and customers.
- Identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Manage multi-firm consortia (typically up to 10 partners) collaborating in research projects both nationally and internationally.
- Maintain the projects overview managing interdependencies of several project responsibilities and coordinating multiple workstreams within each project
- Oversee financial planning and control in line with the business objective of the unit.
- Manage the Research Unit’s project portfolio and support resource planning and control.
- Support of the project acquisition and thereby being constantly involved in the future research topics to come.

- Provide mentorship, scientific guidance, and supervision of researchers.
- Corporate and profit responsibility.
- Initiate and oversee collaborative projects with academia and industry.
- Expand the research unit’s international network through partnership acquisition and ongoing network activities.
- Shape the research program of the Research Unit, creating project portfolios together with the division head.
- Grow the research unit towards research excellence and economic impact.
- Create a motivated, collaborative, and relaxed atmosphere for scientists to thrive in.
